February 28, 1948 - June 30, 2020
Roman Melero, age 72, our beloved father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather has departed us and has been embraced in the presence of our dear Lord on Tuesday June 30th 2020. Born to Efren and Florentina Melero in Atotonilco, Durango, Estados Unidos Mexicanos. As a young man at the age of 12, he worked in the bakery delivering bread as a necessity to provide for his family. In 1969, he moved to Aurora, Illinois where he began working immediately. He was extremely hardworking with a genuine, humble heart. During these early years, he would help support his family and siblings. He enjoyed his Classic cars and owned a few to later pass on to his siblings. He met his loving wife, Andrea, of 50 years in Aurora, Illinois. He had great love for his wife and treated her like a queen. Loving and faithful to the very end. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile, encouraging conversations, comical comments, genuine spirit and a compassionate heart for always helping those in need. He enjoyed the outdoor living that included family camping trips. Swimming at the lake with family was always a joy. He was entertained by watching his family play sports from volleyball to basketball. He adored all his grandchildren and very close to his angelic Angel Allison. His pastimes include playing Pacco, listening to music and always finding DIY projects at home. Each morning he dedicated himself to a cup of coffee while listening to a Novela via radio show "Pilo". His passion for sports included the Chicago Cubs that he watched side-by-side with his wife and family. He was a strong powerhouse, and a hero to his family. He fought the good fight and was unable to resist the call home. He is now in the beautiful glory of God. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he whispered "come to me". Preceded in death by his parents, Efren and Florentina Melero; and one brother, Oscar Melero. Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Andrea Melero; sons, Roman Jr (Rosa) Melero, Hector (Olivia) Melero, and Johnny Melero; daughter, Marilu (Nazario) Delacruz; his beloved grandchildren, Robert, Raphael, Samuel, Angelo, Victoria, Eliana, Allison, and Emilio and a great grandson Noah; six sisters and four brothers; also survived 53 nieces and nephews.
