February 23, 1957 - October 17, 2021
Kimberly Kay Kelley-Malizia 2/23/1957-10/17/2021 Age 64, was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2021 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Kim fought her cancer with everything she had by going through chemotherapy, having surgery and immunotherapy. Kim was blessed to have even survived her surgery as she had complications and was there for a month. This was the second time Kim had cancer in her life. She had Leukemia in her 20’s. With her faith in God, she enjoyed her “second chance” of life. Kim went on a dating site online when online dating first started, and her niece Jenny thought she was crazy. She met Darrell ’D’ Malizia, her husband and they hit it off right away. Kim always took a chance and it worked out for her. Kim’s favorite times were enjoyed with ‘D’ and her dogs, Murphy and Maxwell. She enjoyed cooking, where she was the pizza winner in a contest with her husband and friends. Kim loved working in the yard growing beautiful roses, something her mom also did. Kim enjoyed traveling with Darrell. They went to California to see the Redwoods, tasted wines in wine country, took in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, gambled in Las Vegas, flew in a helicopter to the Grand Canyon and enjoyed visiting Mexico. Skydiving was also something Kim enjoyed. She was the one who wanted to go at first and Darrell went along because Kim wanted to do it. They both fell in love with it. Spending time with family and friends was always on Kim’s mind. She really valued her relationships with her family and friends. When Kim wasn’t out and about, she enjoyed watching T.V. mysteries like Law & Order, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods and and murder mystery movies on Lifetime. Preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Mildred Kelley (nee Smith). Survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Darrell ‘D’ Malizia. Loving mom to her dog babies Murphy and Maxwell. Her sister Peggy Gamblin, brother Richard Kelley (MaryAnn), Sheila Orwat (Ray) and Mark Kelley (Deborah). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews whom she loved very dearly. She is survived by many friends and colleagues who might as well be considered family. A celebration of Kim’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Delgado Funeral Home, 400 Landau Ave. Joliet, IL 60432. Kim’s family would like to thank Lightways Hospice in Joliet for their affectionate care both at home and at their facility. Besides expert nursing care, Lightways provided massage therapy and music therapy to Kim. Kim shared her heartbeat and chose the music for her memorial video. They were a Godsend to her husband Darrell and her niece Jenny. The family asks that you please consider a donation to this organization in honor of Kim. https://lightways.org/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiNSLBhCPARIsAKNS4_dScGaLqWoCOa_njsYiCa_FQdn5KFpVKVA0_Vxxt69MT2oLi-sqqtAaAvrIEALw_wcB
