John Michael Shourek Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Michael Shourek, was unexpectedly called home to God on Saturday June 11, 2022 at the age of 65. After a series of medical complications, John passed peacefully. Not once did his fragile health hinder his faith in God. All his days, he remained a man who provided for his family. John was a lifelong resident of Joliet. On October 13, 1956, John Michael was born to his parents Frank & Constance Shourek. Our Father was not only a knowledgeable man, but also a loving one. He worked as a turf & horticulture foreman for 44 years and was a Blending Seed Specialist. John truly cherished the times he was able to spend with his family and friends. He found enjoyment in everyday activities such as watching the Chicago White Sox, fishing, camping, and listening to his music. John will always be remembered as a hardworking man. His strong, courageous spirit will be deeply missed by all blessed to have known him. John is survived by his love of 43 years, Pamela. He remains a beloved father to Allen (April) Shourek, Frank Shourek, Lynn (Manuel Torres) Shourek, Candy Shourek, and Tammy Shourek. Also left to cherish Grandpa’s memory is his grandchildren: Allen Jr., Mark, Shane, Tyler, Frank Jr. Alex, Gabriella, Sophia and Anthony. John remains a very much loved brother to his siblings: Marie Cohn, Eddie, Jim, and Bobby. Proceeded in death by his parents: Frank (Bob) and Constance Shourek (née Counter). & his granddaughter, Haley. Our family would like to truly thank those who have lent their support or have sent memorial donations during this difficult time. And to the staff at Saint Joseph Hospital, the special care given to our Dad during his stay has not gone unnoticed & is deeply appreciated. A Memorial Service to celebrate John’s life will be held on June 24, 2022, 4:00PM – 6:00PM at Delgado Funeral Chapel, located at 400 Landau Avenue in Joliet, Illinois 60432.
