Age 75 passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. Genaro was born on October 5, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Maricela Morales; his parents, Felipe Morales Sr. and Viviana Guerrero; infant sister, Martina Morales; his oldest sister, Rosa Nava, youngest brother, Alejandro Morales and his brother-in-law, Henry Cavazos. Genaro is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 50 yrs, Sandra (nee Acosta) Morales, his devoted children, Yolanda (David) Sportiello, Alma (Kevin) Klein, and Genaro (Candice Stube) Morales Jr.; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriela, Marcelina, and Alec Sportiello, Jeremy and Raquel Klein, Maricela, Ariana, and Genaro III Morales, one great grandchild, Addalyn, He is also survived by his siblings, Pedro (Mary Lou) Morales, Felipe (Guadalupe) Morales Jr., Guadalupe Cavazos, Ernestina Eplin and several nieces and nephews. Genaro served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Joliet, Illinois. He was employed by the Gulf, Mobile, Ohio, Illinois Central Gulf, and Metra Railroads. He retired from the railroad after 33 years of service. He was a staunch union man; he served as Local Chairman of Local 6324 and Vice-President/Treasurer of the Transportation Communication Union (TCU). He was one of the founders of the MAC baseball program now known as the Spanish Community Center baseball/softball program. He enjoyed coaching baseball to kids ages 5-13 and teaching them respect, discipline and teamwork. Genaro was presented with the Reverend James E. Allen Award for Service to the Community and a Certificate of Recognition by the Spanish Community Center for his dedication to the Spanish Community Center’s Youth Baseball and Softball Organization. Besides the enjoyment of spending time with his wife and family, Genaro loved spending time tending to his rose garden. Genaro’s family would like to thank Joliet Area Hospice and Presence Cancer Care (JOHO) for the wonderful care and support they provided over the past 6 months. VISITATION & DVD MEMORIAL: Sunday August 5, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Delgado Funeral Chapel, 400 Landau Ave., at Jackson St.(Rt. 6), Joliet. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held Monday August 6, 2018 at 8:30 AM from Delgado Funeral Chapel to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet, for Christian Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded. Entombment of Genaro's cremains will be held from Delgado Funeral Chapel, Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 1 p.m. to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL, for services and military honors at 2:30 p.m.
