Eric D. Carr was born March 23, 1962, to late Charles Carr and Bertha Carr in Joliet, Illinois. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois, after a lingering illness. Eric accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend J.W. Walton, Sr. Eric was educated in school systems in Birmingham, Alabama and Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Joliet East High School in Joliet, Illinois. Eric’s last place of employment was at Buckhannon Construction in Birmingham, Alabama. Eric was a great artist and poet. He played football at Joliet East High School. Eric loved to work on cars. He had a passion for fishing and listening to music. Eric had several favorite songs “Country Boy” by Sir Charles Jones, “When I Rose” by The Mississippi Mass Choir, “Sinners Prayer” by Deitrick Haddon, and “Something about the name Jesus” by Rance Allen. Eric loved to walk and meet people. Anyone that met him, would become a friend by the end of the conversation. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Carr; stepmother, Ola Jones Carr, maternal and paternal grandparents; step grandmother, Annie Lee Jones “Big Momma”; brother, Theophilus “Nat/Nate” Battle; sisters, Regina Carr and Bobbie Gill; niece, TyShawn “Tank” Carr; brother-in-law, John “Bulldog” Morris, Jr; nephews, Terrance “Pee Wee” Gill, Sr. and Marvin Williams; special cousin, Tony Stepney, Sr. Eric leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Eric (Noriko) Chandler of San Diego, CA and Marcus Chandler of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Dorian, Deandre, Mia, DeMarques and Kvon; brother, Xavier “Joe” (Demetria) Carr; sisters, Ruth Richardson, Monique “Debra” Carr and Jeanette Marion all of Joliet, IL and Betty Williams of Chicago, IL; sister-in-Law, Kathy Battle; special cousin in Alabama, Keawana Pugh; special friends, Jonathan Hill and David Chandler; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
