Antonia Caballero
August 21, 1939 - October 15, 2020
Antonia Caballero, affectionately known as “GG”, age 81, went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, October 15th, 2020, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born August 21, 1939 in Weslaco, Texas. Antonia raised her two sons as a single mother before marrying her late husband, who she then left behind in the state of Texas to help raise her three granddaughters here in Joliet over thirty years ago. She proudly worked the night shift, full-time for many years, helping to provide her family with a foundation of stability and love. She also made the time to help care for her late mother, who required full-time assistance. In her later years, she became a member of Cristo Es La Roca Christian church, and was devoted to the people of the church. She served the Lord passionately, and always found comfort/guidance in reading her bible daily. Antonia loved to take her girls shopping in her spare time, as well as bake cakes, and cook big homemade meals. She kept a tidy home, which she would enjoy while sitting at her kitchen table with a cup of coffee for a moment of peace and quite on her days off before her girls would wake up and join her. Antonia enjoyed long conversations with her late sisters everyday by phone or in person, keeping up with the latest “news” in the family. She didn’t only care for her sons and granddaughters, but also for anyone who was a part of her life. Whether it be her family by blood, or a member of her church family, she was always there to add special details to the lives of those she loved. She left a lasting impression on all of her loved ones. Antonia was truly admired by many. There is no doubt that her care and kindness for others will continue to send vibrations thru out the hearts of many, continuing to make the world a better place for those who are blessed to be touched by her lasting legacy. Preceded in death by her parents, Agapito and Elvira Marinez; two sisters, Carmen, and Maria; and two brothers Jesus and Jimmy. Survived by sons, Erasmo and Ruben(Alice) Marinez. Devoted grandmother to Priscilla(Tim) Carroll, Brooke(Jon) Pellegrini, and Lidia(Miguel) Torres. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Julian, Isabella, Samuel, Zoila, Ayden, Gia, Mackenzie, Jonnie Rose, and Miguel.
