Alma Zamudio, an accomplished community organizer in Chicago, died last week. Alma was a prolific photographer who also loved painting. She was 26. Alma was a graduate student at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She spent her adult life fighting for social justice causes, from access to affordable housing, to early childhood education and labor. She poured herself into every campaign, project or cause without expecting anything in return. As loving daughter, sister and friend she brought endless joy and encouraged everyone around her. She preached enjoying life to the fullest. As a nature lover, she enjoyed hiking with her dog, gardening and biking. Her passion for life and curiosity led her to travel many countries in Europe. She even lived in South America for six months. Alma is survived by her parents, Guillermo and Cibeliz Zamudio; her brothers, Fernando and Mario; her sisters, Edith and Maria Ines.
