Shirley Ann Bodemuller

Shirley Ann Bodemuller of Joliet, Illinois passed away at the age of 83 on March 1, 2023. She is the beloved wife of the late Herman Carl Bodemueller Jr. and she is the daughter of Willie & Geneva (Suttle) Baker. She was born on February 29, 1940 in Cooksville, Illinois. Shirley was a loving & devoted Mother to her four children. She always made sure they had what they needed. Her caring nature was also extended to those she took care of at Salem Village Nursing Home. She worked midnights as a nurse’s assistant until she would later retire. She was a person who loved to stay up all night. She would read, or spend time playing games or being on the computer. During the day she slept and we always knew not to call before 4 or 5 PM. But once she got her rest she would spend her free time doing the things she loved such as knitting, and sewing. She loved her cook books and would try out new recipes whenever she could. Even as a young mother she had so much knowledge about cooking, she would always ensure the basement was filled with so many jars of food that she had canned. It didn’t matter if it was family or the neighborhood kids; she never let you leave her house with an empty stomach. Her biscuits and gravy were the best. She loved going to Charlies and Susie’s for the monthly reunion. She loved taking trips. Florida was her favorite destination. After fighting many illnesses and battling cancer we find comfort and hope that Shirley is at peace and reunited with her beloved husband she will be missed deeply. Preceded in her death are her parents, Willie & Geneva, her husband, Herman Carl, her daughter, Cheryl, siblings: Zella, Susie, Kathy, Abe and Harold. Also proceeded by her granddaughter, Samantha. Shirley is survived by her children, Carl Wayne, Robert, Deborah. She will be missed by her grandkids: Candi, Sarah, Skyler, Robert Jr., Heather, Steven, Sonya, Adam, Brandon, Jennifer, and Dennis. Also survived by her sisters: Linda, Marlene, Darlene, Louis, Zula, and her brothers Kenny & Jimmy. A visitation will be held for Shirley on Tuesday March 7, 2023, visiting hours will be from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM at Delgado Funeral Chapel, located at 400 Landau Avenue Joliet, Illinois 60432.
