Sheldon A. Gray

In Loving Memory of SHELDON A. GRAY June 23, 1947 - February 5, 2025 Sheldon fought a courageous battle against several illnesses over the past seven years, with such strength and determination. Facing every illness head on with his stubbornness, strength, & willingness to keep fighting to stay independent. Sheldon was a HERO to many, a great provider to his family, many godchildren and friends. Sheldon worked as a dispatch supervisor for Pace Bus company for 24 years from 1992-2016, US Steel Mill for 16 years from 1976-1992 and he was also a military veteran of the Army. He was a master of all trades; such as building things, decorating, and whatever he set his mind to do, he would go above and beyond to accomplish his task. Sheldon loved to rollerskate, if he was not working, riding his bicycle, going to the movies, watching old western movies such as Rifle Man, or eating, you could find Sheldon at the roller rink. To watch Sheldon skate was like watching him float on air, he was a “smooth roller” as his fellow skaters would affectionately call him. Sheldon loved the Obamas, his basketball teams The Bulls and The Lakers and his favorite color was red. Sheldon was also compassionate about helping his co-workers to succeed and many times he would help new employees study and take them out on the road to perfect and learn their express routes for Pace Bus. Sheldon was preceded in death by his dad, Aubrey Gray, Sr., his sister Norma Jean Gray and his mom Beatrice Gray. Sheldon is survived by his loving wife Cynthia known as Cindy. His four siblings Ramsey (Carmenita - CC), Geraldine known as GG, Aubrey (Edie) & Velma (Ron). Although Sheldon didn't have any biological children he shared countless connections and special bonds with many godchildren: Marie, Luella, Tawana, Devon, Cassandra, Tray, Demetria, Nadia and Elyse and many more children he helped to raise in their upbringing. Sheldon is also survived by 22 god-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank his many doctors, special thanks to a few of the staff at Arista Nursing Home, nurse Mary, Restorative CNA Patrice and aide Jayla.
