Robert A. Matlak

Robert Alan Matlak (Bob) departed peacefully to Heaven on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at the age of 69. Bob is the son of Peggy and George Matlak, and was born on February 13, 1954 in Joliet, Illinois. Devoted husband to his wife of 28 years, Beatrice Matlak (nee Duarte). Together they united in marriage on April 16, 1994, at St. Mary Nativity Church in Joliet. Bob is the loving father to his sons, Richard Hill Jr. and Eric Hill and beloved grandfather to Richard Hill III. Bob was always a great provider for his family, and even worked after his retirement from Caterpillar Tractor. He worked for the United States Postal Service, and also as a Security Officer for Joliet West Township High School. He would also volunteer at the American Italian Cultural Society in Joliet. Bob was a great friend to many people; he cherished the friendships that he kept for many years of his life. He loved to cook and bake for others. Nobody could make Tiramisu, chocolate chip cookies, or taco Salad as good as Bob. He would always make enough for everyone to enjoy. When outside of the kitchen, he would spend time working in the garden, riding his bike, or playing golf with friends. What Bob looked forward to and enjoyed the most is traveling with his wife Bea, and spending time with his family and friends. Survived by his mother, Peggy Matlak (nee Chastain), his two sisters, Carol & Joann and his two brothers, George and Phillip, and by several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Matlak, and his grandparents. The Funeral Services for Robert A. Matlak have been entrusted to Delgado Funeral Chapel. Visitation: Wednesday, April 5, 2023, 11:00AM – 5:00PM. A funeral luncheon will also be held downstairs in the banquet room and will begin at 3:00PM.
