Manuel Z. Palacios

Palacios, Manuel Z. “Manny” Age 77, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 8, 2013, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 17, 1936 in Taxco, Guerrero Mexico, a lifelong resident of Joliet. Manuel fought a courageous battle against several illnesses over the past 6 years, with such strength and determination, never giving up. Facing every illness head on with his faith in God, he would just keep on fighting. He is our HERO. A great provider to his family, Manuel worked as a member of the Chicago Local Pipefitters #597 for 34 years. He was a master of all trades. Loved his dogs, Bullet, Maverick, and Canelo also his pet turtle Olympic. Enjoyed watching soccer, WWE, playing poker, learning new things and listening to music. Our father was self taught and always had a hunger for knowledge. Preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Maria de Lourdes (nee Zavala) Palacios, three sisters Raquel, Josephina, Amparo, one brother Pedro. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Martha his “More” (nee Cordova). Devoted father to Maria (Richard) Delgado, Pedro (Debbie), Manuel (Aurelia), Ildefonso (Laurie), and David (Kimmy) Palacios. His grandchildren: Rafael (Alma) Chaparro, Melody (Gustavo) Bautista, Bianca (Beiker) and Alek Delgado, Angelica (Juve), Pierre, Marc, Nicole, Frankie, Jillian Velasquez, Ildefonso Jr (Erin), Erika, David, Anthony, Michael, Natalie Palacios. Also survived by 19 great grandchildren and one sister, Esparanza Olivas, numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. The family would like to thank his second family at Sun Health Dialysis, his doctors and nurses for their affectionate care. As well as the fourth floor staff at Presence St. Joseph’s Hospital.
