Arbra Howard

Arbra Howard was born on November 26, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Flossie (Fisher) Duckett. She passed away peacefully at home on October 20th , 2024, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren. She was the fourth of six children, and was preceded in death by her parents and four of her siblings: Robert Duckett, Gwendolyn Kelley, Cynthia Ward, and George Duckett III. Baptized at a young age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Arbra's dedication to her faith was a guiding force in her life. She graduated from Emil G. Hirsch High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from Malcolm X College. For over 30 years, she served as a Registered Nurse, touching countless lives with her compassion and care. In 1975, Arbra married John Henry Howard, Jr., who also preceded her in death. Together, they raised two sons, John Howard III and Jeremy Howard. Arbra's passions included cooking, decorating, music and dancing. Her passion for baking delighted friends and family with her famous Checkered Board cake, Sock-It-To-Me pound cake, Red Velvet cake, and Banana Nut bread. She often playfully embraced her love for trying both new and traditional recipes. She found solace and inspiration in her favorite scripture, Psalm 23, which she quoted often. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her children, John Howard III and Jeremy Howard; her stepdaughter, Jeanine Howard; her bonus daughter, Tyteanna Crosby; and her treasured grandchildren: John Howard IV, Jazontae Howard, Jada Arbra Howard, Jamila Howard, Jamela Howard, Jaquan Howard, Taniyah Howard, Jayanna Crosby, Jacolby Howard and Treasure Howard. Arbra is also survived by her sister, Sandra Davis, several great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends. Arbra Howard will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, loving heart, and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
