In Loving Memory of Alejandro “Alex” Santoyo After living a beautiful life filled with joy and laughter with his family and friends, Alejandro ascended to be with the Lord peacefully on June 9th , 2024 at the age of 75. He was surrounded by all of his loved ones. Alex was born on July 31st ,1948 in La Tinaja Municipio de Yuriria, Guanajuato, Mexico and was a lifelong Joliet resident. Alejandro was an honorable man, husband, father and grandfather who fought a courageous battle against many illnesses over the past 16 years with unwavering strength and determination, never giving up. Facing every illness head on with his faith in God and his loving family. He was a beloved hero to many, an inspiring figure for life and a strong beacon light who brought eternal laughter with his jokes and bright smile. Alejandro loved the natural beauty of nature, gardening, fixing cars, music, singing, and playing his guitar on many occasions and during family gatherings. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family during dinner. He was a great provider working as a Chicago CTA Driver and later specializing in landscaping, adding beauty and color to many homes across the area. Preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Santoyo Medina and Socorro Santoyo Medrano, and 1 brother Jaime. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years Yolanda his “Yola” (Gaytan). Devoted father to Alex, Maria (Antonio) Alvarado, Irey (Maria), Areli (Rodrigo) Franco, and Brian. His grandchildren: Giovanni and Ansel Alvarado, Jailene, Irey Jr., Danica Santoyo, Ayeka (Joshua) Montalvo, and Sidney Franco. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren Yevgenia, Venezya and Gael Santoyo, and 4 sisters Elvia (Ramon) Ortiz, Rosa, Violeta (Placido) Santoyo, Yolanda (Ruben) Perez, and 1 brother Guadalupe (Esther) Santoyo. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and cherished friends and neighbors. Our family would like to thank his second family at Loyola Hospital, his doctors and nurses and their affectionate care. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Delgado Funeral Chapel, located at 400 Landau Ave. at Jackson St.
