Jose Angel León

Jose Angel León, age 57, passed away on Saturday February 4, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born on October 1, 1965, in Uriangato, Guanajuato; Jose was a resident of Joliet for the past 20 years. Jose, known to many as Peña, was the definition of hard working. Always putting work first, he dedicated most of his time to his landscaping business. This meant in the summer, long days in the hot sun or in the winter, long nights removing snow and ice. When Jose wasn’t working, he was at home… but hardly relaxing. You could find him in his garage fixing his trucks, lawnmowers, bobcats, or whatever needed attending to. He loved to garden and plant, whether it was trees, flowers or the many vegetables he grew at home, such as cucumbers, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and so much more. To his family, he was a tough love type of man. He may not have said it often, but his family knew how much he loved them by being the best provider he could possibly be. In 2020, Jose became a grandpa for the first time to his granddaughter, Xolana. She brought out the softness in such a tough man. Xolana would always come home with a cucumber lime Gatorade or a piece of sprinkle bread that her “ito” picked out for her at the pandería. Gone too soon, Jose’s four children will miss his advice and company, and Maria Elena, his wife of 30 plus years, will miss his companionship. Preceded in death by his father, Laurentino León; grandparents, Candido and Martiniana León; uncle, Tránsito León; aunt, Carmela León; and cousin, Luciano León. Jose Angel leaves behind his devoted wife, Maria Elena León (nee Pantoja); his children Luis Angel (Bianca), Jorge, Yesenia “Jenny”, and Noel León; grandchildren, Xolana Mariel León and a grandson on the way; his mother, Gloria León; his siblings, Maria Ortiz, Tina Abalos, Pedro León, Hugo León, Angelica León, Jose Luis León, and Yolanda León. Also survived by numerous extended family and friends. Funeral Services will be held from Delgado Funeral Chapel Monday February 13, 2023 at 9:30 AM to 10:30AM followed by an 11:00 AM Christian Mass of Burial held at St. John the Baptist Church, 404 N. Hickory St. Joliet, IL 60435. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1320 E. Cass St. Joliet, IL 60432. José Ángel León, ha sido llamado a la presencia del Señor a la edad de 57 años, falleció el Sábado 4 de Febrero de 2023, con su amada familia a su lado. Nació Octubre 1 del 1965 en Uriangato, Guanajuato; José fue residente de Joliet por más de 20 años. José, es conocido como Peña, era la definición de un hombre trabajador. Siempre comprometido a su trabajo dedicó el tiempo a su negocio de jardinería. Largas jornadas de trabajo durante el verano y el invierno. Cuando José no estaba trabajando fuera, lo podías encontrar en su garaje dando mantenimiento a su equipo de trabajo. El disfrutaba mucho de su trabajo y la naturaleza. Un hombre responsable y proveedor para su familia. En 2020, José se convirtió en abuelo por primera vez de su nieta, Xolana. Fue un abuelo amoroso. La consentía con su Gatorade de pepino y limón y un pan (polvorón) que Xolana y su abuelo “ito” disfrutaban comprando en la pandería. José pasó a la presencia de Dios nuestro Señor y será recordado por su amada esposa de mas de 30 años y sus hijos al no verlo llegar mas a casa. Jose será recibido por su padre, Laurentino León; abuelos, Cándido y Martiniana León; Tío, Tránsito León; Tía, Carmela León; Tia Silvia León y primo, Luciano León. José Ángel deja atrás a su amada esposa, María Elena León (de soltera Pantoja); sus hijos Luis Ángel (Bianca), Yesenia “Jenny” y Noel León; nietos, Xolana Mariel León y un nieto en camino; su madre, Gloria León; sus hermanos, María Ortiz, Tina Abalos, Pedro León, Hugo León, Angélica León, José Luis León y Yolanda León y s familiares y amigos quien esperan reencontrarse algún día con el.
